Lord John Sewel, a member of the U.K. House of Lords, has been suspended from his duties following the release of a video, which allegedly shows him snorting cocaine with prostitutes in his London flat.

He will now face a police investigation after House of Lords Speaker Lady D'Souza described Sewel's behavior as "shocking and unacceptable" and reported him to Scotland Yard, according to the Guardian.

Sewel, who is the Deputy Speaker and Chairman of Committees within the House of Lords, resigned from his role until further investigation into his conduct are carried out. However, Labor MP John Mann insists that Lord Sewel should step down from the Lords completely, according to the BBC.

In the video, Sewel can be seen snorting cocaine from the table, using a rolled up banknote. He also jokes about using his expenses for prostitutes, and refers to Asian women as "whores."

Sewel was a member of the Labor party until resigning to take up his role in the House of Lords. A Labor spokeswoman said, "He is not a Labor peer, so we are not commenting," according to the Telegraph.
