Microsoft has decided to permanently apply the promotional discounts that it had launched earlier this month on Surface devices and accessories.

It's all business. Microsoft, the world's largest software developing company, has made its promotional discount on Surface devices and accessories permanent. The company announced earlier this month that it had reduced the price of Surface Pro, Surface RT bundles, standard and limited edition touch covers and now a report confirms that these discounts are here to stay for good.

Microsoft slashed the price of its Intel-powered Surface Pro tablets by $100 and the promotional offer was due to last till August 29. For those who were thinking of grabbing one while it was on sale but may have missed a chance due to whatever reasons, the latest report from ZDNet says the software giant is not taking off the discount, ever. The limited-period discount was only in the U.S., Canada, China and few other markets while the permanent price cut will be seen globally, according to the report.

"The customer response to recent Surface pricing and keyboard-cover promotions has been exciting to see, and we are proud to begin rollout of Surface Pro, Touch Cover and Surface RT bundles at even more affordable prices starting August 29," a Microsoft spokeswoman said in an email.

The prices of the Surface devices continue as they were displayed on discount, but for your knowledge the Surface Pro gets a $100 discount bringing down the price to $799 (base model). Similarly, the touch covers, both standard and limited, get a $40 discount. Users can get the standard touch cover for $79 and the limited edition for $89. Microsoft Surface RT bundles start at $399 after a discount of $50 on every bundle.

The price change will be displayed on Microsoft's official site.
