Pets normally get scared of loud noises, which can make them easily feel anxious and even stressed. That includes fireworks and even thunder storms. That is why the pet industry invented some products that would help pets stay calm during storms and other occasions when loud sounds are heard.

But one kitten doesn't need to buy anything to make him feel better because she's got a dog buddy to cuddle with during a storm.

Reddit user YungDemon was surprised when he saw his cat tucked under his roommate's dog while hanging out on its bed. He posted photos of the dog hugging the cat, saying that "the dog was protecting the kitten from the loud thunder and lightning outside."

It was the first time that the kitten experienced a thunderstorm, and she became very anxious when she heard thunder and saw lighting while inside their home in California.

The cat "is new to the world, so this [was] its first rain and thunder ever!" YungDemon wrote, according to Mashable. 

The scared kitten was fortunate to have a caring dog friend to protect her! This sure is a reminder that love and compassion does exist in animals, too!

The story became viral, especially when one Reddit user Departments called for a Photoshop battle, wherein the photo of the dog yawning with the cat under it was used to create various memes. One example is the dog playing the play station with the caption, "Cat had no choice but to watch dog play."
