"Jurassic World" has officially overtaken "The Avengers" as the third highest grossing film of all time, ComicBookMovie.com reports.

"Jurassic World" has earned $1.522 billion at the global box office to date while "The Avengers" sits at $1.520 billion. The fourth installment in the series started by Steven Spielberg's iconic "Jurassic Park" has shattered domestic and global box office records since its release in June, earning the biggest opening weekend of all time in addition to several other honors.

Star Chris Pratt can now add another impressive notch to his box office belt, which already included $774 million worldwide from last year's "Guardians of the Galaxy" and $468 million from "The Lego Movie."
