A British woman died in a bungee-jumping accident while her aunt looked on helplessly Tuesday during a vacation in Spain.

Kleyo De Abreu, 23, from London, went on an excursion at the 260-foot Tablate Bridge in Lanjaron, near Grenada, and died around 3 p.m. yesterday, police reported, according to the Telegraph.

It is believed she hit her head against an ancient Roman bridge crossing high above the River Tablate while she was attempting her second jump of the day, said Spanish authorities.

The aunt was forced to watch in horror as De Abreu hung from the bungee cord before emergency responders arrived on scene.

"My daughter is gone and nothing is going to bring her back, but I have spoken to the family and we are all on the same page—we don't want something like this to happen again," De Abreu's father told the BBC.

Authorities have begun to launch an investigation into what went wrong, and want to to ascertain whether her jump was arranged by an adventure sports company. They are exploring the possibility that there was miscalculation with rope, a spokesperson for the Guardia Civil said, according to the New York Daily News.

Tablate Bridge has a drop of 262 feet, and is a popular bungee-jumping site used by several adventure sports firms.

Bungee jumpers fall for about 66 feet and swing underneath the bridge, with a first jump offered for about $38 (35 euros).
