Oklahoma City police arrested country music star Stoney LaRue after they responded to a domestic dispute call, Reuters reported. LaRue allegedly pushed his girlfriend down a flight of stairs outside of their apartment complex.

Officers responded to the call at around 7:30 a.m. on Monday at the couple's apartment on Robinson Avenue in Oklahoma City, according to local news station News9. LaRue's girlfriend of three years, who remains unnamed, told police that LaRue, 38, and female friend Richa Chandra, 43, returned to the apartment at around 4 a.m. after a night of drinking. The victim said Chandra and LaRue were making too much noise so she decided to sleep in her car.

After returning at around 6:15 a.m. to get ready for work, the victim said LaRue woke up at the sound of her hair dryer and confronted her. An argument ensued, and LaRue threw the victim's curling iron and makeup bag down the stairs, according to arrest records obtained by Reuters. When the victim bent down to retrieve them, LaRue pushed her and she fell headfirst down the stairs.

LaRue was taken into custody at the Oklahoma County Jail after a domestic abuse complaint and was later released on bond. He apologized to his family, friends and fans in a statement released Tuesday.

"I will be entering an intensive and extensive program, and I appreciate your thoughts and good wishes for me during this trying time," he said in a statement.

On Tuesday morning, a woman named Amanda Winsworth came forward as LaRue's girlfriend, E! News reported. Winsworth tweeted two messages and LaRue retweeted them from his official Twitter account.

"The happenings of this incident have been blown out of proportion by the media, I was never struck by my boyfriend @stoneylarue," Winsworth wrote. "Please respect our privacy while we fix this matter."
