As we head into Season 5 of The Vampire Diaries we know that, of all the relationships from last season, Elena’s and Damon’s are supposed to last at least for a little while.

However, as can be expected with all Vampire Diaries relationships, this one is going to run into a problem. According to TVGuide.com, the problem’s name is Katherine.

Yup, Katherine is back and ruining people’s lives and usual. TVGuide’s Adam Bryant reports Elena will eventually figure out that Katherine has been staying at the Damon’s giant house—the entire summer. It seems that despite the fact Katherine is no longer a vampire, she still knows how to be menace.

Nina Dobrev told us earlier this year that Katherine is going to struggle with being human. (One would guess that most people would struggle with going form immortal and powerful to normal and powerless.)

“It’s not going to be good for her,” Dobrev said according to TVLine.com. “She’s going to be lost and weak and insecure.”

The other romances in the Vampire Diaries are not as secure as Damon and Elena’s as we head into next season—if the word “secure” is even a word you can use to describe their relationship.

With Rebekah taking her talents to the New Orleans, it seems whatever she had with Matt was no more than a fling.

We are all hoping for a Klaus and Caroline crossover. While there is still a possibility of a reconnection, nothing is set in stone.

As for Jeremy and Bonnie, the young Gilbert is going to spend a lot of his time being Bonnie’s mouth piece and keeping her secret. Let’s see how well that affects their relationship.

Season 5 of the Vampire Diaries premieres Oct. 3, 8/7c.
