August "Auggie" Maturo nearly steals the show every time he pops up on "Girl Meets World," and it was no different the first time he met creator Michael Jacobs for his audition on the Disney Channel series.

"When I went to the office, Michael Jacobs said, 'How are you doing?' And I said, 'I have a little bit of diarrhea,'" Maturo said, giggling, in an exclusive interview with Headlines & Global News. "Everyone laughed, and he was like, 'Just put him in the show right now.'"

"Girl Meets World" keeps it simple for the 7-year-old actor (who turns 8 in August), giving his character his own name, Auggie. He plays the adorable little brother of Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard), the titular "girl" of the show, and the loyal son of Corey and Topanga Matthews (Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel).

"They're so loving. They're really, really loving," Maturo said about his on-screen parents, who '90s audiences grew up watching on the ABC series "Boy Meets World." "It's a like a real family on the set."

He also shares a close relationship with Blanchard, who can't help but squeeze the cuteness right out of her little TV brother every time she sees him.

"She doesn't tease me," Maturo assured us. "She loves me too. Whenever I'm in the hallway and she starts walking through, she'll run and grab me and calls me her love."

It's not only the immediate cast that has grown close over the show's first season and a half. The families of the young stars mill about the set, and Maturo took the opportunity to invite Blanchard's mother to assist him on one of his YouTube science experiments along with his co-star Ava Kolker, who plays his best friend Ava Morgenstern.

The aspiring scientist hosts videos that teach kids how to do fun and easy experiments at home. Maturo chose to focus his channel on science because he loves the subject and wants to be a scientist when he grows up. His mother records the videos and he usually receives an assist from his younger brother, Ocean (born the same day as Auggie).

"We get [our ideas] off the Internet. Then we put them on YouTube and make them more fun. Really fun," Maturo explained. "It will be more fun if I do it because [my fans] know that I'm a great actor. So they'll be excited to see me do it. And we have the other actors [on] because they're great actors too and they're really funny."

His featured experiments have included making slime, a homemade lava lamp and a super-hoop glider. Future projects include making a fog tornado and lava in a cup, but he wouldn't reveal any other ideas he has in mind "because you'll have to watch" to find out.

Maturo also loves to explore, wanting to become a world traveler when he grows up, and writing stories. He mainly writes about his life, sometimes to make his friends and family laugh, and is considering making a book of science experiments.

While exploring the great outdoors or enjoying a family picnic, Maturo has to watch out for his life-threatening allergies. At age 3, he was diagnosed with food allergies and has since always carried his EpiPen. He recently teamed up with the company for its EpiPen On Location campaign to teach families to have an "action plan" for their child with allergies in case of an attack.

As "Girl Meets World" continues its second season, Maturo still finds it "amazing" to watch himself on TV and is excited to see how his character changes over time. Catch the show on Disney Channel at 8:30 p.m. EDT on Fridays.
