It seems WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is trying to inject some humor into his Australian national election campaign by popping on a blond wig and taping a parody of a famous '80s hit.

Wearing a white mullet hairpiece, Assange sings along to John Farnham's 1986 jam "You're the Voice," tweaking the lyrics slightly to bolster up support and gain votes for his recently formed WikiLeaks Party, which will be running in Australia's elections Sept. 7.

"We can write what we want to write; we gotta make things leak so we can get much bolder," Assange bleats into the microphone.

Assange has been selected as the face of the WikiLeaks party. He is running for a Senate seat in the state of Victoria, even though he has spent over a year locked up in the London embassy, the Globe and Mail reported.

The party has already experienced its fair share of shaky circumstances-last week, Assange assumed full responsibility for the over-delegation of tasks to his fellow faction members while he dealt with the case of Army Pvt. Chelsea Manning, along with National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden.

Russia recently granted Snowden asylum, much to the United States' chagrin. Meanwhile, Manning was given a 35 year sentencing for passing along upwards of 700,000 secret military documents to WikiLeaks, the Globe reported.

But now, it looks like Assange is trying to move the trouble along by making light of his political situation in this parody video, which was put on the Internet on Monday by Juice Rap News.

Juice Rap is a site that pokes fun at politics, according to the Globe.

Co-founder of the site Giordano Nanni reported that Assange considered doing the video for hours after Juice Rap News first pitched it to him.

Finally, he said yes to appearing in the "You're the Voice" parody.

"We were really impressed-and a little surprised-that Julian agreed to the Farnham idea," Nanni wrote in a statement.
