Feedly has launched its premium service for users at a monthly and a yearly fee of $5 and $45 respectively.

The shutting down of Google Reader left many users unhappy but Feedly filled the void for most of them. The free service left many users dissatisfied with its limited features. Now Feedly has launched a premium version with new features including in-feed search, Evernote integration, premium support, and HTTPS. But the RSS reader comes with a price; the monthly service is for $5 and the annual charge is $45.

During the early stages of Feedly Pro, users were given a chance to get a lifetime subscription for $99. The opportunity was grabbed by 5,000 lucky users in 8 hours. It doesn't look the company plans on giving a similar deal to its new customers.

"We would like to once again thank the first 5,000 early feedly pro backers," said Cyril Moutran, co-founder of Feedly and its head of products and strategy, in a Monday blog. "The funds from that campaign helped us invest in the infrastructure and customer support needed to make feedly pro generally available. We also listened to your feedback and added one-click Pocket integration and brought HTTPS support to feedly standard."

Feedly Pro includes all features from the free version with some modifications and additions. The search feature is completely new and exclusive to the paid version. Although free app users have access to Evernote and Pocket integration, the Pro users will have the modified version of the feature for a seamless experience. One button click for both Evernote and Pocket is available only in the paid version unlike the free app where users have to email pages to Evernote.

Both free and Pro versions of the app read feeds over HTTPS connection as users wanted.

Soon after Google Reader's demise in March, Feedly free app downloads increase by more than half a million new users in just two weeks. Since then the company has been trying to enhance its services to make them comparable to Google Reader.
