At least one of the Ghostbusters' founding members will make an appearance in the reboot starring an all-female team. Dan Aykroyd, who wrote the original "Ghostbusters" script with his co-star Harold Ramis, confirmed on his Facebook on Tuesday (via TheWrap) that he will make a cameo in the new movie.

Aykroyd has championed the Paul Feig film since the beginning and wished the director and cast good luck when they started shooting last month. Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones will take over the ghost busting responsibilities in the reboot.

The ladies have been filming around New York for the last few weeks. TMZ caught the first glimpse of the team in action, including a stunt double who looked a lot like McKinnon, hanging out window as well as the ECTO-1 speeding out of the garage.

Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson who starred alongside Aykroyd in the two original films have not stated whether they make an appearance in the new film. Ramis passed away in February 2014.

"Ghostbusters" will premiere in theaters on July 22, 2016.
