The Miami Heat have had a tremendous offseason of strengthening their bench in order to take a run at ending LeBron James' string of consecutive NBA Finals appearances. So far they have signed Gerald Green to a minimum contract and added Amar'e Stoudemire to fortify their bench. One move that was reportedly going to happen but now reportedly may not, is the signing of Dorell Wright, according to the Miami Herald.

Wright played the first six seasons of his career with the Heat and never really blossomed there. It wasn't until he moved on to the Golden State Warriors that he became an effective player. In the last two years in Golden State though, Wright's career has gone back downhill.

Wright mentioned earlier in the offseason that he would love to go back to Miami, and at that time there was also reported interest from the Heat. Wright labeled it a "great chance" he would be back in Miami for next season but Miami is reportedly not currently pursuing a deal with the sharpshooter.

When the rumors of Wright going back to the Heat were swirling there was also a lot of speculation that the Heat were trying to trade some of their bench players like Shabazz Napier, Mario Chalmers and others. While Chalmers still might be on the trading block, the talks involving the rest of the Heat bench has quieted down.

Miami currently has 17 players under contract on their roster, so while Wright wants to go back, the odds seem very slim. If the Heat do decide to trade some of their bench players later on, then there might be an opening for Wright.

There hasn't been any other news involving Wright's free agency other than him being linked to the Heat so it's impossible to say where he will end up. It would be a pretty big surprise if he didn't sign with an NBA team at some point, though. Wright is still just 29 years old and for his career he shoots 37 percent from three point range. It seems likely he will get a chance somewhere this upcoming season.
