The CW has a few shows coming to the network this fall that could easily be hits added to their all-star lineup (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Arrow,” “Supernatural,” “Hart of Dixie”).

One of those shows is the sci-fi themed “The Tomorrow People.”

Here’s a quick synopsis of the show according to the CW website:

Up until a year ago, Stephen was a “normal” teenager — until he began hearing voices and teleporting in his sleep, never knowing where he might wake up. Now, Stephen’s issues have gone far beyond the usual teenage angst, and he is beginning to question his sanity. In desperation, Stephen decides to listen to one of the voices in his head, and it leads him to his first encounter with the Tomorrow People — John, Cara and Russell — a genetically advanced race with the abilities of telekinesis, teleportation and telepathic communication.

(Read the full synopsis here.)

The synopsis goes on to say Stephen will have to choose between his new family of Tomorrow People and the normal life that the evil Dr. Jedikiah Price is offering him.

The Cast:

Stephen Jameson is played by Robbie Amell (“Revenge,” “Cheaper by the Dozen 2”)

John Young is played by Luke Mitchell (“H2O: Just Add Water”)

Cara Coburn is played by Peyton List (“Mad Men”)

Russell Kwon is played by Aaron Yoo (“Disturbia”)

Dr. Jedikiah Price is played by Mark Pellegrino (“Supernatural,” “Revolution”)

Astrid Mantock is played by Astrid Finch

Killian McCrane is played by Jason Dohring (“Ringer”)

As of right now it seems the plot line is very cliché. Normal boy realizes he’s different. Finds other people like him. Other people show him how to use his powers. He must decide whether or not he wants to be normal or a superhero.

Despite this fact, the show has immense potential. First of all, it shares executive producers with “The Vampire Diaries” and “Arrow,” two shows that were extremely important for The CW last season. When the great minds of Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries) and Greg Berlanti (Arrow) are put into a show, usually good things happen.

Secondly, there are some good twists in the show. For example, Jedikiah is not only the main villain but also Stephen’s uncle and family drama is always good. In addtion, Amell revealed in an interview with WetPatint that viewers should be ready for a love triangle with Cara stuck between Stephen and John (the leader of the Tomorrow People).

For those of who don’t know, Robbie Amell is the cousin of “Arrow” star Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen).

Let’s just hope Robbie plays the main superhero just as well as his older cousin.
