WWE wrestler John Cena really opened up during an interview on "Today," talking about flexing his comedic muscle for the first time and how "awkward" he felt while filming a nude scene for Amy Schumer's new movie, "Trainwreck."

"I think those who see the movie will agree with you—that scene is extremely awkward," said Cena yesterday. "And it's designed that way. It's designed to be the most un-intimate environment. It was unbelievably awkward, but that's cool because it actually shows."

Cena plays one of Schumer's love interests in "Trainwreck", the Judd Apatow-directed film about a woman who doesn't believe in love but meets someone who challenges her views. Schumer wrote the script and stars in the rom-com.

The film is Cena's first experience with comedy, having previously starred in action films. He auditioned for the part because he just really wanted to be a part of the film. He credits Schumer and Apatow with giving him the freedom and direction to branch out from the action genre and help him hone in on his comedic timing and improv skills.

"Well, a great thing about Judd and Amy is they allow leeway to do whatever," said Cena. "There is a script and we do do a few takes of the script, and then they're just kind of like, 'Well, try saying this,' 'Try saying this' or 'Maybe go with that,' and you just get so lost in it, and stuff just happens."
