Congratulations are in order for Sophie B. Hawkins! The singer welcomed a baby girl earlier this week named Esther Ballantine Hawkins, she confirmed to Us Weekly. This was the second child for Hawkins, 50, who gave birth to son Dashiell in 2008.
"Dashiell and I are ecstatic to finally be with our beautiful girl," she told. "Our family is now complete!"
Hawkins confirmed the news of her pregnancy to Us Weekly back in February and said she was not worried about extending her family so late in her life.
"Being 50 is actually an amazing age to have a second child because I am more wise, calm, humorous, appreciative, simple and clear," Hawkins explained. "I'm not running around looking for love and validation. I live each day full of gratitude, and that's good for my children."
Hawkins, best known for her song's, "Damn, I Wish I Was Your Love" and "As I Lay Me Down," froze a number of embryos when she was 31 in order to have children later in life, ABC News reported. The healthy girl was born at New York Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell Campus and weighed 8 pounds.
