Jarrell Milton, a 12-year-old Nebraska boy who was wanted for murder in a gang-related shooting in Omaha, was arrested Tuesday night in Minneapolis, nearly 400 miles from the scene.

The Omaha police released a statement Tuesday stating Milton was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service and will be booked ahead of court proceedings to return him to Nebraska, according to ABC News.

Milton's two alleged accomplices were arrested Monday and charged as adults with first-degree murder, but the boy had been on the lam until he was nabbed Tuesday night, police told the Omaha World-HeraldAuthorities will begin court proceedings to take Milton back to Omaha to stand trial.

Prosecutors say Milton, his older brother Jamar E. Milton, 17, and Shuntayvious Primes-Willis, 15, reeled in their two victims last month with a promise to sell them marijuana near Miller Park, reported WJACTV.

The trio allegedly tried to rob Jamymell Ray, 31, and Charles Fisher, 30, before at least one defendant, or possibly all three, opened fire on the victims June 29, reported the World-Herald. Ray died in the attack.

Fisher escaped later identified Primes-Wills and Jamar Milton in a lineup. Now, prosecutors are trying to determine how to proceed with Jarrell Milton, Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine said, according to the New York Daily News.

"There's a question in regards to the 12-year-old under the new law, whether we can proceed in adult court, so we'll get him into custody and then make that determination," said Kleine, who noted Milton was the youngest murder suspect he could remember. He added, "There isn't any question in my mind" the three boys have gang ties.
