Disney is continuing to push live-action fairy tales after buying the rights to a feature film based around Prince Charming from "Cinderella." The new project comes after the success of Kenneth Branagh's live-action "Cinderella," which came out earlier this year. Disney plans to center the film not on the titular character, but on his brother who struggles to compete with him due to his lack of charm.

The script was written by Matt Fogel, who previously wrote "Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son" and is helping develop a musical starring Tom Cruise. The script was offered to all studios last week, but Disney outbid them all. Along with the success of "Cinderella," Disney had major hits with live-action versions of "Alice in Wonderland" and "Maleficent," and has even more films planned, including new takes on "Beauty and the Beast," "Dumbo," "Mulan," "Pocahontas" and "The Jungle Book."

Other studios are trying to keep up with the newest movie trend. Universal is working on a live-action version of "The Little Mermaid," and Warner Bros. is developing a new "Pinocchio" as well as a different version of "The Jungle Book," according to the Guardian.
