Sandra McClary, a 26-year-old mother, is facing multiple charges – namely child neglect and reckless endangerment – in connection with all child abandonment in Anne Arundel County Maryland.

Police are allegeding McClary abandoned a three-month-old infant on the side of Pasadena road in Maryland. On Sunday County Police released a photo of the child in the hope that her parents would come forward. The picture, which was captioned, "Do you know the parents of this baby?" was posted on social media and has been shared more than 27,000 times on Facebook so far. On Sunday, July 5, police received a phone call from a woman claiming to be the mother.

"We're most fortunate the child is not harmed and appeared to be in good condition," Lt. T.J. Smith told the reporters. "It's important for people to understand the laws associated with not being able to take care of your child," he added, according to CNN news

During the investigation, McClary stated the baby, who was actually only six weeks old, was supposed to be with its father and that she had no idea what had happened. But as police investigated further, police concluded she was responsible for taking the child out of her car and abandoning her on the road.

"Scuff marks on the carrier and other debris indicate the carrier may have fallen off a moving vehicle," officer Smith stated.

The investigation is ongoing, adds Smith, and police are coordinating with Anne Arundel's State Attorney, according to ABC news.

The child, who was found in a scuffed carrier on Pasadena has been taken to the hospital and was found to be in good health. She is now in the custody of the state's Department of Child Protective Services, according to Fox news.
