Billy Joel's ex-wife, former supermodel Christie Brinkley, took the high road when congratulating the singer on his recent surprise wedding to a much younger woman, the Daily Mail reports. However, she managed to throw just the slightest bit of shade in her caption.

Joel, 66, surprised his guests by marrying his pregnant girlfriend Alexis Roderick, 33, at the couple's Fourth of July party at their home in Long Island, as previously reported by HNGN. Brinkely, 61, was married to Joel between 1985 and 1994 and gave him his only child, daughter Alexa Ray Joel. She took to Instagram to congratulate her ex-husband on his new marriage.

"Congratulation [sic] to the glowing bride and groom.. And to my daughter Alexa, who has a wonderful friend in Alexis! Wishing the growing family every happiness!," Brinkley wrote.

It's innocent enough, but the jab comes in where Brinkley suggests Joel's new bride would make a great friend for their daughter Alexa Ray, who is just four years younger than her new stepmother. Alexa Ray attended her father's nuptials, according to People, and posted a sweet photo of the newlyweds to her Instagram page.

Brinkley is rumored to have been the inspiration behind Joel's 1983 hit "Uptown Girl," according to the Washington Post. Joel and Brinkley have maintained an amicable relationship after their divorce, and Joel even serenaded his ex-wife with the song at one of the many shows during his Madison Square Garden residency last year.
