Apple and Google will have another competitor in the smartwatch business soon. Casio has signaled an early 2016 release date, most likely March, for its first smartwatch, according to Slash Gear.

The company has not released any photos of the design for the gadget, but it is being marketed towards men who enjoy outdoor and leisure activities. It will cost around $400, the same price as the Apple Watch Sport, according to Information Week, .

An operating system for the Casio gadget hasn't yet been announced. Many sites have speculated that the watch will run an Andoid OS, but that now seems unlikely, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Casio's goal with the smartwatch is to offer a product that "won't break easily, is simple to put on, and feels good," according to Slash Gear.

Casio has made attempts to integrate new technology, such as bluetooth capability, into its G-Shock line of watches, but the real test will be if the company will be able to incorporate applications into its new endeavor. The company has to if it wants to make an item that truly rivals the smartwatches tech giants Google and Apple make.
