Alfred Hitchcock's 1963 classic "The Birds" is apparently looking for more explosions as director Michael Bay's production company -- His Platinum Dunes -- has been tapped to helm the remake.

Bay's production company is no stranger to horror remakes. His team has handled the remakes for "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre," "Amityville Horror," "Nightmare on Elm Street," and "Friday the 13th" in recent years.

But "The Birds" is considered sacred text by old school horror fans and giving it to Michael Bay - he of "Transformers" infamy - does not inspire a lot of confidence in the project.

Latino Review reports that actress Naomi Watts is in talks to headline the film while Variety suggests that Dutch filmmakers Dierik Van Rooijen will be handling the directing duties. It is unknown how closely this new version will mirror the original.
