Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea's song "Pretty Girls" didn't live up to the hype when it was released last month. The two were involved in what some are calling a Twitter "feud" after Azalea claimed the song flopped because of the music video's lack of promotion, even though Azalea was apparently the one that "was difficult" to work with.

The 25-year-old "Fancy" singer not-so-subtly put the blame on Spears for the song's lack of success by responding to a fan's tweet, saying, "its difficult to send a song up the charts without additional promo and tv performances etc. unfortunately im just featured..."

The media and fans took that as Azalea blaming Spears. The 33-year-old "Piece of Me" singer made sure to indirectly respond to that in the best way possible. "Can't wait to get back to Vegas," Spears tweeted. "So thankful I have shows for the rest of the year to look forward to...#YouWantAPieceOfMe." Since Azalea recently cancelled her upcoming tour, people took what Spears had to say as the perfect response.

When news of the apparent "feud" broke out, Azalea took to Twitter again to clear things up. "I am honestly not surprised but still really saddened that the media is trying to create a 'beef' between @britneyspeaers and myself," she tweeted and then added, "We remain friends and I haven't said anything negative at all about her. Does wishing we had promoted a single more make me the bad guy?"

She continued to tweet about how the media constantly portrays women in the wrong way, according to E! News, and then added, "No one is throwing 'shade' or 'shots' on either side of the table. The girl is my friend and I support her 100%."

"Beef" aside, an insider has still exclusively revealed to Us Weekly that Azalea "was difficult" while shooting the video for the song, which may be why this whole thing is getting a little out of control in the first place.

"Iggy was difficult with respect to direction of [the] video," the insider said. "Everyone just got fed up and didn't want to deal with it. Britney, being a veteran artist, was tired of arguing."

A second source then added, "'Pretty Girls' was Britney's song and video but Iggy totally took it over as if it was hers. Iggy ordered everyone - including Britney - around as if she was directing the video." The source continued to say that Azalea chose all the single's art work and was the one that decided what they should wear during the Billboard Music Awards performance.

"Britney is such a fan that she listened to everything Iggy said," the second source added. The two bonded on set, but everything happening between them recently on social media is a little tense.

So, even though Azalea has cleared things up over the "feud," Spears has yet to respond to any of this, besides her subtle tweet of course.
