AT&T has stepped right on its plan to expand 4G LTE coverage across the United States with the addition of five new markets and it aims to cross its targeted 400 locales by the end of this year.

AT&T, the largest mobile telephone service company in the United States, is fast approaching its goal of covering more than 400 cities under its 4G LTE service. With the current pace, the U.S. carrier is destined to surpass its 400th milestone much before the deadline. The company announced Wednesday, that it has lit up five new cities with its LTE coverage.

The cities that now enjoy the high-speed service include Ruston (Louisiana), New Bern (North Carolina), State College (Pennsylvania), Jayuya (Puerto Rico) and Georgetown (South Carolina). AT&T currently covers more than 225 million people in 370 markets with its LTE service and an addition of 50 new cities by the end of this year will easily bring the big blue carrier to 420 total cities with nearly 270 million people using the high speed service.

AT&T announced the list of 50 new cities that will be added to its 4G LTE coverage by the end of 2013. The cities include:
