It's the end of an era for NeNe Leakes. After seven years in a prominent role on Bravo's "The Real Housewives of Atlanta," Leakes announced she's leaving the show, as previously reported by HNGN.

The reality star originally announced her departure in a People exclusive, but also spoke out via her personal Twitter and Instagram pages Monday night.

"This is so hard for me to type! I cry as I do so!" she tweeted out to her 1.78 million followers. "After seven seasons I have decided not to return to #RHOA."

Leakes expressed the same sentiment in an Instagram photo she posted of herself with the caption: "I am so Grateful for all the love and laughs! Thank you so much to everyone that has watched and supported me over the years on this amazing platform! With lots of thoughts and prayer I've decided to step out on faith and not fear."

Longtime "Housewives" executive producer and Bravo host Andy Cohen also tweeted about Leakes' announcement. "We love @NeNeLeakes," he wrote, "she is always welcome back to the house she helped build! She's a Real Housewife forever!!"

A Bravo spokesperson released an exclusive statement to E! News wishing Leakes the best in her future endeavors: "We wish NeNe well after seven memorable seasons of 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta.' We will miss her bloop bloop's and her great one liners. We look forward to the eighth season of 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta' in the fall."
