She's been the subject of intense media scrutiny ever since her sex tape with Ray J was leaked, but that hasn't stopped Kim Kardashian from keeping her head held high in the spotlight. Now that she's given birth to her daughter, North West, how is the new mom coping with current media backlash, and how does Kanye West feel about it? Is he encouraging her new, no-nonsense attitude?

Sources tell Hollywood Life that "Kanye's not telling her to do this or that but he supports Kim calling out fake people."

Most recently, the reality star dissed Katie Couric on Instagram, calling out the journalist and talk show host a "fake media friend" and accussing her of "talking s**t" about her behind her back while posting a gift Couric had given the new mom for her baby. Kardashian's bitter Instagram caption was a response to Couric "bashing" her in a recent interview before sending her and West a special baby gift with a note.

"Dear Kim & Kanye," the cut-off note accompanying a gift from Barneys New York read. "Congratulations on the birth of your baby girl! As the moth...And may I humbly suggest you continue the K tradition for na ...Fondly, Katie Couri."

Kardashian's shocking response to Couric's note was triggered by Couric questioning why the Kardashians were so famous during a recent interview with In Touch Weekly. "I don't understand - why are they so famous?," Couric mused. "I think it's mostly teenage girls that are interested." This statement clearly did not sit well with North West's mama.

It would come as no surprise to us if West really feels indifferent to how Kardashian is handling the situation, as he himself is notorious for speaking rather bluntly about how feels about his critics. The rapper has publicly ranted plenty of times at and after award shows and spoken out against the music industry's bias towards certain artists that he doesn't feel are up to snuff. Perhaps it's his no-nonsense policy that's rubbing off on his girlfriend!

"He and Kim have a baby to focus on," said the Hollywood Life source. "They're busy raising a family and have no time for bulls**t."

Indeed, the new parents have already been photographed out and about with their adorable daughter, covered from the paparazzi's prying eyes with a blanket, of course. It is also likely West's influence that has led Kardashian to keep little Nori away from the spotlight for now, even though many speculated she would document every moment of the birth and aftermath for the world.
