In last night's episode of TLC's "Return to Amish," Abe pays it forward by helping a friend escape Amish life, Kate helps Mama Mary take her first steps towards a healthier lifestyle and Katie Ann makes her decision about going English.

Mary's dream of opening an Amish-style bed and breakfast is slowly coming together as she welcomes two new guests, but it's through trial and error. She learned from her mistakes in last week's episode and took Kate's advice. Instead of making her customers adhere to strict Amish rules (no cell phones, must help with chores and wear Amish clothes), she decides to make it an option. "I think it can be a success if we're not too pushy," Kate says. With her help, Mary is able to give her guests a more pleasant experience.

Abe meets up with his friend Raymond, who wants to leave the Amish lifestyle behind. Abe says he has the experience and knows what to do to help his friend, and tells him the first step is to get his birth certificate and social security card. Once he does, Abe hides his friend in the barn at the bed and breakfast before taking him to the local bus stop so Raymond can start his new life in the English world.

Abe's wife Rebecca help Kate go grocery shopping for Mary, who had a health scare in a previous episode. The girls make her a smoothie, in an attempt to improve her diet.

"I feel like I would die if I have to eat this," Mary says, but the girls see it as a step in the right direction after Mary agreed to taste it. In the next scene, Kate has more success with Mary after getting her on an elliptical at the gym.

Abe's brother Andrew lands himself in jail yet again, and his girlfriend Chapel goes to deliver the news that she wants to move on without him. TLC cameras wait outside for her during the visit, and she comes back looking relieved. "It went well," she tells producers. "I told him I want to be free to build my life."

Mary's daughter Katie Ann is also searching for freedom and decides that she wants to follow in her brother Abe's footsteps and leave the Amish community. She's seen packing her things at the end of the episode to go live with Abe and Rebecca, and Mary tries to stop her. "You know you're going to break my heart if you leave," Mary tells her daughter.
