More than 500 people were injured, including 194 who are in serious condition, during a party at the Formosa Water Park in New Taipei City, Taiwan when a fire on a music stage spread into the crowd of spectators, Focus Taiwan News Channel reported.

An accidental explosion of an unknown powder near the stage was the cause of said fire that blazed in front of about 1,000 people, said Wang Wei-sheng, a liaison with the New Taipei City fire department command center, according to the Associated Press.

Included in the injured are four mainland Chinese and two foreigners.

The fire was quickly brought under control after its eruption. According to witnesses, the fire spread quickly after the colored powder was blown into the air. It is still unclear if the powder is part of the show.

A video showed how a massive fireball suddenly engulfed the stage, while people were screaming and running through the flames.

Rescue workers and bystanders helped the burned and injured by carrying them on their backs, while others were carried in inflatable boats and stretchers to get medical treatment.

Formosa Fun Coast indicated that the explosion occurred during a "Color Play Asia" party that was put on by a different company.

"We are very regretful (for) this accident that caused injuries to many victims," Formosa Fun Coast said in a statement, CNN News reported. "The most urgent matter currently for us is to handle and assist with ... victims on the scene and work comprehensively with the New Taipei Fire Department."
