Twitter is adding a new section, "related headlines," to the tweet's permalink page that gives users a list of news articles where the tweet has been embedded.

Twitter is adding a new feature that links user's tweets to news articles where they have been embedded. The feature called  "related headlines," will be added to the tweet's permalink page with a list of clickable articles. The addition of the new feature will give users easy access to full stories from preferred news source.

Brian Wallerstein, Twitter Software Engineer, explained how the new feature actually works in the company's official blog, Monday. Twitter uses NBA player Jason Collins, story that broke out earlier this year to explain its new feature. Collins became the first NBA player to publicly come out. He thanked everyone for all the support he received via his Twitter account, which was retweeted more than 14,000 times. But for those clueless readers, who wondered why Collins thanked them, the "related headlines" will give a background or detail of that tweet, which was embedded by several news sources like ESPN, MSNBC and others.

As a result of this new feature, authors of news articles and publishers might see an upward trend in the traffic of their stories.

The feature will not display links to news articles on the page but only if a user clicks on a tweet  will the related headlines section appear.
