Just six days after birth, Randy Rogers' newborn daughter passed away from a rare condition. Now the Randy Rogers Band singer opens up on his daughter's death, People reports.

"She wouldn't eat and she wouldn't wake up," Rogers told People. "She was very lethargic, she never opened her eyes. We kept getting assurances from the doctors and nurses - a lot of babies think they're still in mommy's belly and they don't want to wake up for a day or eat - but then Rumer went to the NICU about eight hours after her birth."

Rogers' daughter, Rumer Rain, was born on June 3 and spent most of her short life in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at the Seton Medical Center in Austin, Texas. Rogers said doctors spent six days performing tests to find out what was wrong with her. Finally, doctors diagnosed Rumer with nonketotic hyperglycinemia (NKH), a genetic disorder that impairs the brain, causes seizures and affects breathing, eating and muscular functions in newborns. It's a rare disease, only affecting one in 66,000 infants in the United States.

In a photo posted to the Randy Rogers Band's Facebook page, Rogers and his wife Chelsea are seen beaming proudly, with Rumer Rain resting on Chelsea's chest.

Rumer Rain was placed on a ventilator after she stopped breathing, and she passed away of natural causes on June 9, according to the New York Daily News.

Welcome the newest member of the Rogers family, Rumer Rain, born at 7:29 am this morning. 7 lbs, 13 oz and 20 inches long. Everybody is happy and healthy!
