Kit Harington is expanding his career from "Game of Thrones," as the British actor is set to replace Robert Pattinson in the upcoming film "Brimstone," E! News reported.

Harington, who breathed life into George R.R. Martin's character Jon Snow in the hit HBO series, will take on the role of an outlaw in the upcoming thriller, according to The Huffington Post. Pattinson, known for his lead role as sparkly vampire Edward Cullen in the film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight" novels, was originally announced to play the character this past February. It is not clear why Pattinson, another British actor, relinquished the role.

Harington is the last star to be added to the cast and will work alongside Dakota Fanning ("The Motel Life"), Guy Pearce ("Memento") and former "Game of Thrones" co-star Carice van Houten. Fanning stars as Liz, a heroine who is hunted by Pearce's character, an evil Preacher. The movie is described as "a vivid and powerful epic of one woman's defiant resistance," according to Variety.

Written and directed by Martin Koolhoven ("Winter in Wartime"), "Brimstone" is set for a 2016 release. Harington's next project, the tennis mockumentary "7 Days In Hell" co-starring Andy Samberg, is slated for a July 7 release on HBO.
