Fox News is not renewing its contract with Sarah Palin, according to Politico. The former governor of Alaska, 51, shot to fame during the 2008 presidential election where she was John McCain's Vice Presidential candidate.

A spokesperson for the cable news network confirmed the news, saying Palin and the Fox News "amicably" parted ways on June 1. Fox News chief Roger Ailes was reportedly angry that Palin had chosen another media outlet to announce her non-candidacy for President, according to the Associated Press.

This marks the second time in years the two sides have parted ways. Fox News initially signed Palin as a commentator in 2010 at a time when her star shone brightly from a memorable vice presidential run. The contract was reportedly worth $1 million a year, a salary that made Palin the highest-paid pundit at the highest-rated channel in cable news, according to CNN Money. Three years later the former governor returned to Fox News as a paid contributor.

Palin, 51, is expected to make occasional guest appearances on Fox and Fox Business, and will appear on other networks and cable shows. She is a paid public speaker, has a show on the Sportsman Channel and will announce a new publishing project soon.

Given the upcoming – and very highly charged presidential election season – rumor has it that she may considering becoming a vice presidential candidate again. That specualtion began last week when she was spotted out with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
