Rick Ross, the rapper and founder of Maybach Music Group, was arrested early Wednesday morning around 6:30 a.m. local time at his mansion just outside of Atlanta. The rapper was charged with kidnapping and assault by the U.S. Marshals fugitive task force.

Jim Joyner, a supervisor with the Marshals' Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, told The Associated Press that Ross and a man described as his bodyguard were taken into custody Wednesday morning in Fayette County, Georgia. Ross, whose real name is Williams Roberts, is being held at the Fayette County jail where he just spent the night two weeks ago after he was arrested on misdemeanor marijuana charges, according to AJC.com.

Ross had work done on his home when he allegedly got into a fight with one of the workers and pistol-whipped that person, according to Channel 2 Action News. He and James were arrested "without incident," Stevens said in the statement.

In addition to kidnapping and aggravated assault, Ross was charged with aggravated battery, authorities said.
