The cult classic movie "Wet Hot American Summer" is getting the Netflix treatment. The 2001 movie tells the story of the fictional Camp Firewood in the summer of 1981. On July 31, Netflix will release "Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp," a prequel to the film that will take place two months before the events of the movie, according to CBS.

Netflix today released the first trailer of the eight-episode series that shows many of the famous actors and actresses. The original movie has quite the impressive cast including Elizabeth Banks, Bradley Cooper, Christopher Meloni, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd and Molly Shannon. The entire cast returns as well as new additions Kristen Wiig and John Hamm, according to Time.

The trailer does not directly promote the show but instead plays like a VHS advertisement for Camp Firewood.

The original movie ends with all the camp counselors promising to meet up with each other in 10 years. It has been 14 years since Michael Showalter and David Wain's movie hit theatres, but better late than never. Watch the trailer below!
