Disturbing details emerged Monday about how Richard Matt and David Sweat managed to cut through the pipes in the Clinton Correctional Facility: The tools they used were smuggled inside a shipment of frozen hamburger meat.

Specifically, according to Fox News, court documents allege that Joyce Mitchell provided the men with hacksaw blades, chisels, a punch and a screwdriver bit sometime before their escape.

Mitchell, the prison worker accused of helping Matt and Sweat escape, apparently got a corrections officer to bypass the metal detector and deliver the meat to the escaped convicts, a source told CNN.

Matt and Sweat were in a special block where inmates who behaved themselves were allowed to cook their own meals, instead of eating regular prison food.

Mitchell was already charged and imprisoned for her involvement in the escape, and the two corrections officers who had access to a prison tailoring shop, that she supervised, were placed on administrative leave.

Even more disturbing is the fact that the cabin where the men's DNA was found belongs to a group of corrections officers. A law enforcement source stated they might now be armed, noting that a shotgun might be missing from the cabin.

This revelation means there is a possibility that Matt and Sweat have more unknown connections since it isn't clear which corrections officer owned the cabin.

Despite this news, with all of the new information, police have refined their search and believe they will be able to capture Matt and Sweat soon.
