Remember folks: Don't run with sharp objects and, if you feel like you have to throw one, be absolutely certain you have safety precautions in place—and/or a damn good aim.

Pete Hegseth, a Fox News cohost, had neither.

Hegseth threw an ax at a target last week, but missed and hit a nearby marching band drummer instead, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

In footage that surfaced Monday, Hegseth teased an upcoming segment, during the June 14 broadcast, by throwing an ax. However, instead of hitting the target, the ax flew over it and struck Jeff Prosperie, a drummer in the West Point Hellcats marching band, who was performing during the show.

While edited for the televised broadcast, iPhone footage shows the moment of impact:

On June 20, according to Mediaite, Prosperie posted about the incident on Facebook.

Prosperie noted that the clip was edited to show Hegseth throwing the ax and only shows him wincing when it goes off mark. The next scene, which was taken by cellphone, shows the ax striking him on the other side of the target. The moment of impact wasn't shown on air, but the camera clearly shows him clutching his arm in pain and walking off as the rest of the drummers continued to play.

Fortunately, he was hit by the broadside of the ax.

It's currently unknown whether or not Prosperie will pursue legal action.
