Comedy Central asked Amy Poehler to become the new host of the "The Daily Show," and she shot them down really fast.

With current host Jon Stewart leaving the show, the network is looking for someone just as legendary to take over, so they decided to ask funny girl Poehler, but it just wasn't up her alley. It turns out, her "no" was the quickest in history, according to the New York Times.

Anonymous sources have revealed that Comedy Central wasn't even surprised when the "Parks and Recreation" star turned the gig down so quickly, The New York Times reports. If she had said yes, they would have been even more shocked because they understand something that is done on a daily basis isn't what Poehler is interested at the moment.

"They were pretty much expecting her to say no," the source said. "And it was the quickest no in history."

Poehler wasn't the only big name to be asked and then decline. Comedy legend Chris Rock was also one of the candidates, and although he did consider it longer than Poehler had, he revealed that he wouldn't want to do it for longer than a year.

South African comedian Trevor Noah is also being highly considered after appearing on "The Daily Show" many times.

"Trevor's the only person we made an offer to," Kent Alderman, head of original programming, said.

During an event last week, Viacom entertainment president Doug Herzog admitted that before they considered Noah for the part, the network didn't take the time to look at his Twitter account, according to Mediaite.

The Hollywood Reporter has reposted several of the semi-offensive tweets he has sent over the past six years, showing what they would have found, even though it doesn't seem like it would have mattered.

"But the truth is even had we looked at it," Herzog said. "I don't know what we would have done differently."

It is unclear when Noah will be making his decision to accept the offer or not.
