Miley Cyrus was honored Tuesday night in New York at amfAR's sixth annual Inspiration Gala, which she attended with her date, Tyler Ford, who identifies as agender.

The 22-year-old pop star took time before the event to introduce her Instagram followers to Ford, who is a photographer, poet and former "Glee Project" contestant, according to the Associated Press

"Tyler is a queer, biracial, agender person, whose pronouns are they/them/theirs," Cyrus wrote.

Along with Cyrus, late night Bravo host Andy Cohen also received the award for his work in fighting AIDS. AmfAR is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the support of AIDS research and HIV prevention and education.

Cyrus is an activist for the LGBTQ community and recently started her own charity, "The Happy Hippie Foundation," which vows to help homeless LGBTQ youth. The ex-Disney star recently opened up about her own sexual identity, saying that she has had romantic relations with both men and women in the past.

Cyrus helped raise $69,000 at the event's auction after selling her personal art work using Caitlyn Jenner's "Vanity Fair" cover. The money will go to AIDS research.
