An Indian Air Force (IAF) Jaguar fighter aircraft crashed near Allahabad on Tuesday while on a routine training excursion, the second such incident this year, reported the Times of India.

The aircraft took off from Bamraulli airbase at approximately 7:25 a.m. from Allahabad and crashed about 13 kilometers (8 miles) from the north Indian city at 8:47 a.m. Both pilots managed to eject themselves from the aircraft safely, and no casualties have been reported, according to NDTV.

Sitanshu Kar, spokesman for the Ministry of Defence, confirmed the crash on his Twitter account.

According to eyewitnesses, it was the pilot's alertness that allowed him to make a crash landing on open grounds in order to avoid property damage or civilian casualties.

The crash is the third such incident to take place within a month. Earlier this month, an IAF advanced jet trainer hawk crashed in Odisha, and in another incident that took place last month an IAF Sukhoi SU-30 combat jet crashed in Assam.

The reason behind the crash is not yet clear, and a court of enquiry has been ordered by the Indian Air Force.
