One woman died from a shooting Friday night near the food court of the Coral Ridge Mall Iowa mall, which left shoppers stunned.

Gunshots were heard inside the mall in Coralville when the gunman shot the woman. Some shoppers took cover inside while others rushed out of the mall, the Associated Press reported.

Iowa Department of Public Safety spokesman Alex Murphy confirmed that one female died, though her identity has not yet been verified. She suffered multiple gun shots and was brought to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, but eventually died.

The suspect was identified as Alexander Matthew Kozak, 22, of North Liberty, who was arrested during a traffic stop on Interstate 80 about 50 miles east of the mall in Davenport, according to Press Citizen.

Murphy said that the public is no longer in danger and that there are no other suspects for the incident. Further details will be released by the authorities after the investigation.

Coral Ridge is the second-largest mall in Iowa and is located along a busy street of Interstate 80 in Coralville. Around 19,000 people live in the suburban area, which is normally quiet.
