Over the hills and far, Teletubbies are back to play.

Nickelodeon has signed a deal with DHX Media, a Canadian media company, to air new episodes of "Teletubbies" on Nick Jr. The 365 classic episodes from the original British children's TV series will run on Noggin, the new mobile subscription service from Nickelodeon.

"There has been overwhelming international interest in the new Teletubbies series, and appetite for the classic episodes remains exceptionally strong," Josh Scherba, SVP Distribution at DHX Media, said in a statement.

CBeebies, a BBC-owned children's network, announced last year that it will commission 60 new 12-minute episodes of "Teletubbies" starring the multi-colored characters Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po. The original series ran from 1997 to 2001 and ran on PBS in America.

The children's program famously courted controversy in 1999 when the rumor that Tinky Winky was gay picked up steam. It caught the attention of the Southern Baptist pastor and conservative leader Jerry Falwell, who condemned the character as a "gay role model."
