A Texas mother saved her children from an armed robbery by attacking the suspect and running him over with her minivan according to Fox News.
Dorothy Barker and her two children, both under the age of six, was running errands when a man "popped up from behind the third row of her van, demanding $200 in cash." The armed robber reportedly entered the unlocked vehicle during a pit-stop at the Kroger Food store.
According to reports, the suspect has been identified as 53-year-old Ismael Martinez. Martinez threatened to harm Barker's children if she did not adhere to his demands. The mother pleaded with the man that she did not have the money he was looking for and he then "lunged at her with a knife."
According to WFAA, an ABC news affiliate, Barker attempted to alert the authorities, but Martinez noticed her 911 phone call and she was forced to get physical with the suspect. Barker ripped the knife out of Martinez's hands and punched him in the face.
"I told him to get the hell out of my car. And he said 'fine'," she told WFAA. "He got out and started running and the next thing I thought was if he gets away he can do this to somebody else."
Barker wanted to protect her children and future families from Martinez so she continued to go after him after him with her van.
"He kind of zagged and I turned, intending to clip him in the side of something to get him to stop," she said. "And I ended up running completely over him."
Martinez was taken to the hospital and was listed in stable condition.
No charges have been made on the suspect, but Barker could be facing a few charges for running Martinez over.
