Mick Jagger, shown performing in France in 2022, called out Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry at a concert in New Orleans this week, saying the Republican "is trying to take us back to the Stone Age."

Rolling Stones rocker Mick Jagger took a swipe at Louisiana's Republican governor during a performance in New Orleans, saying Jeff Landry "wants to take us back to the Stone Age."

The legendary rock band had just finished "You Can't Always Get What You Want" at a sold-out show Thursday night at the New Orleans Heritage and Jazz Festival when Jagger began talking about inclusion and called out Landry, who was just elected last October.

"We're a welcoming crowd, aren't we?" the 80-year-old Jagger asked the audience, WDSU reported. "I hope Mr. Landry is enjoying the show. He's real inclusive, you know. He's trying to take us back to the Stone Age."

Landry has backed strict abortion proposals, restrictions on gender-affirming care for minors and harsher prison sentences.

The governor took to social media to respond to Jagger.

"You can't always get what you want," Landry smirked on X.

"The only person who might remember the Stone Age is Mick Jagger. Love you buddy, you're always welcome in Louisiana!" he said, adding: "#LoveMyCountryMusic."
