Cleveland Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith made headlines earlier in the week when he accused the New York Knicks of discarding him like trash. But after Smith's poor shooting in Game 1 of the 2015 NBA Finals, it was the New York Post's turn to take a playful shot at him.

Smith felt like the Knicks tossed him away like trash, as evident by a meme he posted on Instagram with the caption: "One Man's Trash Is Another Mans (sic) Treasure."  Smith is now playing in the NBA finals as his ex-Knicks teammates watch from home, but he struggled shooting - 3-of-13 for nine points - in Cleveland's 108-100 loss in overtime. Afterwards, The Post's Marc Berman took a mild jab at Smith for the poor shooting performance.

Smith started off well, connecting on three 3-pointers, before going cold and finishing the second half and overtime without a bucket.

"I was trying to find a rhythm, it was hard to find and they started staying attached to me and clinging to my jumper,'' Smith said, according to The Post. "I have to do a better job mixing it up and taking it to the basket, creating plays for others."

Much of Cleveland's offense centered on LeBron James running isolation plays or posting up, but the Cavaliers desperately needed another scorer after Kyrie Irving left the game with an injury. Smith, who has a reputation for being a streaky shooter, simply couldn't get it going after halftime when it mattered the most.
