E.L. James reportedly couldn't see Ian Somerhalder as Christian Grey but maybe Sylvia Day can see the actor playing Gideon Cross in her erotic series "Crossfire." The novel has been often compared to "Fifty Shades of Grey" and now fans are shifting their focus to get him cast in the upcoming television series, International Business Times reports.

According to the website, the two lead male characters in both series have similar descriptions and Somerhlader fans can see him pulling off the role of Cross just as easily as they could have seen playing Grey.

In "Bared to You," the first book in the "Crossfire" series, Eva Tramell, a young girl meets and falls in love with the young, handsome billionaire Gideon Cross. The two have similar, dark pasts which they must confront in order for their relationship to work.

Sounds interesting, right? Casting news for this book is sure to pick up especially since it was just announced that the series is going to be adapted for a television series. According The Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate acquired the rights to turn it into a TV show.

"The 'Crossfire' series is an incredible property and it is a thrill to bring it to Lionsgate," Chris Salek, executive president at Linsgate told THR. "Sylvia has created an enduring, sexy and edgy story, and we're looking forward to working with her to create a show that both excites and connects with audiences as her books have done."

A network has signed on yet to pick up the series but there have been rumors that either HBO or Showtime would be a good choice for the steamy TV series.

Day told THR that producers are already discussing how they are going to keep the sex scenes as close to the book's description.

"I'm sure we'll see a lot of that translated to the film, which should be interesting and hopefully not too hard on the actors... I'm really excited," she said.

Matt Bomer and Henry Cavill are also being rumored to play Gideon Cross according to a Facebook fanpage.

What do you think, could you see Ian Somerhalder as a top contender to play Gideon Cross on the TV series?
