Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato are teaming up for the sake of music.

The longtime pals and manager/music executive Phil McIntyre have partnered with Island Records to launch a record label together called Safehouse Records. The new "artist-centric" label reportedly want to give musicians more creative control over their music, Entertainment Weekly reported.

Lovato will release her fifth album under Safehouse, through a partnership between her current label, Disney-owned Hollywood Records, and Island Records. Jonas is already signed under Island Records, so his transition to the new label should be a bit easier.

"Our focus at Safehouse Records is to put artists in control of their art while providing them the best tools to manage their careers," Jonas and McIntyre said in a joint statement. "Through our partnership with Island Records they will also have access to the best marketing and promotion available."

Safehouse "will seek to sign talented artists to join them at Safehouse Records where artists will enjoy participation in the success of the company as part owners." The label is "conceived as a safe, protected environment where artist's creativity is supported."

In a separate statement, Demi shared her enthusiasm over her new project.

"I've worked closely with both Nick and Phil for years and we share the same point of view when it comes to making music. It's incredibly exciting to be part of this new company where I'm in control of all aspects of my career," Lovato said in a statement. "I can't wait to share what we're working on!"
