Houston's season looked all but over Thursday in Game 6. The Clippers controlled most of the game and led by 19 points at one point during the second half, seemingly clicking into autopilot to finish out the remainder of the game. The Rockets, though, weren't quite ready to call their season over. With star James Harden on the bench for most of the fourth quarter, the Rockets - sparked by veterans Jason Terry and Josh Smith - roared back and won 119-107.

"We kept saying, 'We're not going to quit,'" Dwight Howard, who had 20 points and 21 rebounds, told the Associated Press after the game. "We kept believing. We never gave up on each other."

For the most part, the unit on the floor that brought Houston back consisted of second-string players.

"That group just went out there and they just scrambled, they fought and they played their tails off on defense," Rockets coach Kevin McHale said. "They had a great sense about them that they were going to accomplish something."

Harden led the Rockets with 23 points, and Smith chipped in with a crucial 23 points and six rebounds.

Clippers stars Chris Paul and Blake Griffin scored 31 and 28 points, respectively. Coach Doc Rivers blamed the loss on the team losing momentum toward the end.

"We were trying to run the clock out, and we stopped playing," River said. "We gave this one away."
