In the Internet age, the popularity of people's social media pages tend to mean a lot to them.

One Virginia man cared so much about increasing the number of likes on his Instagram account that he allegedly robbed a bank earlier this week, according to ABC Virginia affiliate 13NewsNow.com.

Dominyk Alfonseca didn't do it for the moeny, though. He insists that he walked up to a teller at a local TowneBank with a handwritten note demanding $150,00 just so he could document it all on social media.

"For real, I didn't even do it for money, you understand? I didn't do that for money. I knew my page would get exposure," Alfonseca said at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center on Wednesday.

Alfonseca took to Instagram to post a picture of the note he handed to the teller and a video of her handing him piles of cash. He was arrested 30 minutes after leaving the bank.

Alfonseca's defense, besides his motive, is that he never threatened or hurt anyone at the bank. Instead, he thinks maybe the bank teller is the one at fault.

"No threats in it. If you see me in the video or whatever like that, I have a shirt on -- no weapon, no mask -- and she passes me the money," Alfonseca said. "I don't want to get her in trouble. Maybe she made a mistake. Maybe she made a mistake, and I didn't make a mistake."

He added that the cops are also to blame and that he is the one who got something taken away.

"For real, I felt like I got robbed, 'cause they gave me the money. Then, the police robbed my brain," Alfonseca said.

He concluded, somewhat off-topic, that "everything is relative":

"Everything is relative, you know what I mean? It's however you want to take it. I'm telling you why I did what I did, you know what I mean? But if justice is served in that thing, then I think justice shall be served all around."
