Salman Khan was convicted guilty of culpable homicide for his 2002 hit-and-run case where his SUV ran over five men sleeping on the pavement, killing one.

The Bollywood actor faces 10 years in prison.

The actor has denied that he was at the wheel at the time of the incident, and that it was his driver, Ashok Singh that accidentally crashed into the sleeping men. Khan maintains that the accident only occured because the left tire of the car burst, making Singh lose control of the wheel.

Additional Sessions Judge DW Deshpande pronounced the guilty verdict today. Kahn was found guilty on all eight charges including 304 II, according to Indian Express.

Despite the testimony of Singh, the judges still concluded that it was really Khan that was driving at the time of the incident, that he was under the influence of alcohol and that he then fled the scene after the incident.

One of the sleeping laborers injured in the accident, according to NDTV, said in his statement: "Salman was so drunk he fell. He stood but he fell again and then he... ran away."

Khan has starred in more than 100 films and television shows and is one of Bollywood's busiest actors.
