One Houston couple is celebrating the birth of all-girl quintuplets, the first birth of its kind in U.S. history, the New York Daily News reported.

Danielle Busby gave birth to five babies last week at the Woman's Hospital of Texas. The birth was performed by C-section, and within four minutes Olivia Marie, Ava Lane, Hazel Grace, Parker Kate and Riley Paige entered the world.

"We are so thankful and blessed," Danielle said according to KTRK-TV, "and I honestly give all the credit to my God. I am so thankful for this wonderful hospital and team of people here, they all are truly amazing."

The extremely rare birth, said to be the first in America, might not have happened if Busby and her husband Adam gave up on having children after a year of trying, according to the couple's blog, "It's A Buzz World: The Story Of Our Fast Growing Family."

With the help of fertility treatments and intrauterine insemination, their luck changed in 2010 when Danielle Busby had her first daughter Blayke.

The Busbys did the same thing for their second pregnancy - only this time their family more than doubled in size. Woman's Hospital of Texas said the infants, born at 28 weeks, are doing fine and require "only modest support of their breathing," the Daily News reported.

The last set of all-female quintuplets to be born in the world was in 1969.
