Bruce Jenner has halted production of his upcoming docu-series that will chronicle his transition into a woman.

The E! network planned to premiere the new show from Jenner after the season finale of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians." He now feels pressured by his production company, Bunim/Murray, over the direction of the show.

"He wants to explore other options," a source told People. "But Bunim/Murray are making him feel trapped in his contract and are not allowing him to explore other avenues to tell his story."

Jenner doesn't want to offend the transgender community. His "primary goal is to bring awareness," but he's questioning whether a reality show is the best platform to accomplish that goal.

The 65-year-old reality star "wants this to be taken seriously so that [his situation] can have the most positive impact on society's perception of the transgender community," the source said.

His family, specifically his three sons, has also played into his decision to step back from the project. He wants them to be "in a good place" and psychologically ready for their father to become a woman, a source close to the docu-series told TMZ.

Jenner also continues to struggle with his car accident last month that resulted in a woman's death. He wants to keep working through the "emotional impact" of that incident before he moves forward with the project.

The suspended production will not effect the former Olympian's upcoming interview with Diane Sawyer, according to TMZ. They will discuss his transition decision and are filming the piece in different locations.

Jenner will appear on the tenth season of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," which premieres on Sunday, March 15 at 9 p.m.
